I coordinate all the localization and internationalization efforts for Camelot and Warhammer. This "translates" (get it...translates) into collecting a lot of info for our international partners and staying on top of the technical aspects of the game.
What is your background? College? Degree? Has it helped with the job? 1st job out of school?
1st game industry job? How long have you been with Mythic?
I have a programming background with a degree in Computer Science from George Mason University.
I find this helps tremendously with my job, particularly when interacting with the programming staff.
Previous to Mythic, I worked as a programmer for a series of boring government contracting firms and a
web development company that went "dot boom". My first job in the industry was to program in-house
development tools for Mythic for Dark Age of Camelot. I have been with Mythic for over 6 years.
What was your "welcome to the game industry" moment when it hit you that you were really
making games for a living?
When I took a job that sliced my pay by a quarter, but didn't think twice about it... until I got
my first paycheck.
What excites you about the Warhammer property?
Do you collect Warhammer figures? What army do you play? Does your spouse let you display
them when friends come over for dinner?
No, I don't collect the figures and my spouse counts her blessings everyday I don’t.
What are your hopes/goals for the game?
To bring something unique and fun to the market particularly in the arena of PvP, or Realm vs
Realm as we call it. I used to hate PvP combat until I played Camelot. We did a great job at
making RvR so much fun in Camelot and Warhammer is going to take it to the next level.
What your key influences when making the game? Anything besides Warhammer?
Fantasy worlds are a passion of mine. I love medieval-themed games, books, art etc. Anything
I have ever read and/or played influences my ideas about games
What is the biggest problem with current MMO’s you hope to fix with WAR?
Bad German grammar.
What are your favorite video/computer games of all time? What games are you playing right now?
What game should the reader be playing if he’s not?
I have lost at least a year of my life playing all the Civ games. They put crack in the box or something.
Currently I’m not playing anything regularly, but I do play WoW from time to time.
What music are you listening to right now?
Black Eyed Peas and Fergie...I like her lady lumps.
Is there a recent movie you’ve seen or book/comic you read that you’d recommend to others?
Go see 300. It’s extremely well done. Sin City aside, which was just too disturbing for me,
this movie truly does an excellent job at bringing to “life” a graphic novel.
Anything else you want to add?
First time I worked on the Korean version of Camelot, I was so excited when we finally got Asian glyphs to
display on the client. Turns out the client code was displaying Chinese... Koreans can tell the difference.
